As an infusion, add 2-3 tsp oat straw to 1 cup boiling water and infuse for 10-15 minutes. To enhance the tonifying and soothing benefits of the tea, combine with lemon balm, nettles, skullcap, and chamomile or passion flower. Drink 3 times daily.
For a bath, make an infusion adding 1 pound oat straw to 2 quarts boiling water and infuse for 30 minutes. Strain and add the liquid portion to a bath. To enhance your oats straw bath experience, tie 1/2 cup of oatmeal in a soft cloth and use it to cleanse the skin after a nice soak in the bath.
No precautions, unless you are allergic to oats. Gluten sensitivity will not be activated by use of oat straw on the skin.
